The course “New strategic business models in tourism: coopetition and innovation” investigates the main facets of the hospitality industry, starting from the meaning and evolution of hotel business model concepts to the value co-creation processes. The latest phenomena occurred in the most recent years in the hospitality industry represent the main themes characterizing this course: from the importance of intangible assets and managers’ soft skills to the coopetition dilemma.
The relationship between destinations and hotel companies is therefore investigated, addressing how these ones can influence the former and vice-versa. Strategic management and competitive advantages are changing very quickly, due to the high level of innovation and hyper-competitiveness characterizing the hospitality industry. Accordingly, coopetition and open innovation practices are the main weapons to face with environmental and market changes. Hence, a specific attention is paid to the existing mechanisms.
