What is Psychology about? What are its fields of investigation, theoretical frameworks, methods, and applications? The present course offers a general introduction which provides an overview of the main topics in 12 lessons. All most important notions will be summarized using a precise lexicon and referring to the most important authors and findings, but at the same time with a friendly and informal presentation style.
The course first provides an introduction about the history, methods, and research designs in psychological sciences, and then covers the following specific topics: attention, perception, time perception, emotions, personality, memory and learning, language and thought, motivation, and intelligence. Lessons include optional exercises and quizzes to test one’s understanding, as well as group and individual activities including toy experiments and literature reviews (on articles provided by the teachers) for a more engaged participation.
There are no specific prerequisites for following this course, except the basic knowledge and capacity of critical thinking that are expected to be acquired from students who attended a High School.
