The present course will provide an overview of the relationship between brain and behavior. Just as our biology influences our behavior, so does our behavior influence our biology. The last frontier in psychological sciences is to understand the biological basis of consciousness, cognition, movement, emotion, reward, stress and a range of psychological disorders. The course will give you a quick introduction to some historical aspects, new research methods and future directions. A specific lesson will tackle the recent discovery of mirror neurons and their relationship with imitation and empathy. We will also address the nature or nurture debate: Is emotion expression the result of experience or does it have genetic roots? Are emotions universal or culture-specific? This is one of the oldest debates ever. This course will provide you with a set of short video lectures, slides and extra contents that will allow you to dive deeper into the topics. By the end of the course you will discover how these concepts can apply to your own life.
