The course aims at providing students with notions related to the valorization and utilization of microbial sources in the bioeconomy field, covering the main aspects of the microbial biotechnologies and focusing on the application of microbial processes for the sustainable production of bioproducts.
Module: Microbiology
The module illustrates the morphology, cytology and physiology of microorganisms, with particular attention to their role in the bioeconomy; describes the nutritional groups and the microbial catabolism; provides a theoretical and practical framework of some of the main microbiological methodologies for the study of microorganisms; introduces the ecological approach for the isolation and selection of microorganisms to be used as a source of specific enzymes for bioenergy and biochemicals production.
