This course focuses on the fundamental principles of inorganic chemistry and aims to describe the molecular structures and properties of inorganic complexes and compounds. Topics to be discussed include bonding theories, trends in periodic properties, molecular symmetry and its relationship to vibrational spectroscopy and bonding, solid-state, reaction mechanisms, coordination chemistry, and descriptive chemistry of selected elements. The laboratory provides experience in the preparation and investigation of the properties of typical inorganic compounds. It is assumed that students taking this course have basic knowledge of general chemistry at the undergraduate level.
